We take this opportunity to introduce to you the oldest and the most active NGO in the field of education health and culture in the developing townships of Gandhidham and Adipur in Kutch district in the state of Gujarat.
Gandhidham Maitri MandaI, (GMM), the NGO, was established by Shri Bhai Pratap Dialdas a visionary who was the founder of the above townships in 1950 to look after the needs of the refugees coming from Sindh. Gandhidham Maitri MandaI was set up to provide opportunities to the people to educate and look after their children, as well as fulfill the cultural needs of the displaced persons. A lot of water has flown under the bridge since then and today Gandhidham Maitri MandaI is the manager of 5 primary and 5 secondary and 5 higher secondary schools with over 4000 students on its rolls who belong to sindhis as well as other communities resident in these towns.
In 2004-05 Gandhidham Maitri MandaI in response to the needs for quality teachers and instructors in different fields, started the first teachers training college (B.Ed College) in Maitri Schools campus in Adipur. This was a unique challenge and a task which required a lot of time and effort and money which involved dealings with the government organizations like NCTE and the newly founded Kutch University. The College is now established and functioning and providing opportunities to the local area students which were nonexistent before.
After the earthquake of 2001 the work of reconstruction and renovation was started and goes on to some extent even to this day. Also the schools had to keep pace with the changing times and expectations of the society to provide quality and purposeful education of the young population. Much has been accomplished is this respect and some more needs to be done. Ego
- Construction of the science wing building for j.S. Adarsh Kanya Maha Vidyalaya in Gandhidham is now completed and is being used by science students.
- Construction of B.Ed college Hall and workshop completed recently and is being used by students of Kutch University and IGNOU. (Indra Gandhi National Open Univerysity).
- Construction of the building for the above mentioned B.Ed college named after Dada Dukhayal which is presently being run in temporary quarters in Maitri school Complex in Adipur Estimated cost Rs. 1 crore.
- Hostel and staff quarters for college students and staff with modem facilities. Estimated cost Rs. 50 lacs.
- Expansion ofprimary schools in Adipur and Gandhidham in view of increase in no. Of students.
- Construction of New Play house(Shine Play Center).
- Construction of New Building for KMV(Kanya Maha Vidyalaya) & MMV(Maitri Maha Vidyalaya ).
- Requirement for New Buildings.
- We have regular requirement of Furnitures & Computers.
